Description
In 1964, Porsche unveiled the iconic 911 to the world, an automotive masterpiece that captivated enthusiasts with its distinctive design and groundbreaking engineering. The Porsche 911, with its rear-mounted engine, initially air-cooled, has earned the distinction of being the most renowned German sports car globally. Fast forward to 2004, and Porsche decided to commemorate the 40-year legacy of this beloved icon with a special edition. And here we have it – #756 of 1963 examples, making this an exclusive offering. Presenting the 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 40th Anniversary Edition, a rarity among rarities, with only 1,963 examples produced.
Exterior and Interior
Hailing from the 996 generation, the 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 40th Anniversary Edition marked the twilight of this era, before the baton was passed to the 997. This farewell was made in style, exemplified by the resplendent GT Silver Metallic exterior paint and bespoke alloy wheels, exclusive to this commemorative edition. Setting it apart from its standard 996 counterparts, the 40th Anniversary Edition adopts the front end of the 911 Turbo, the side skirts from the GT3, and, naturally, the distinctive badging. For an added touch of distinction, this particular specimen has been adorned with an aftermarket rear wing. Stepping into the cabin, you’ll encounter an inviting yet undeniably sporty ambiance within the 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 40th Anniversary Edition. Appointed in black, this coupe accommodates two adults up front with room for two children or teenagers in the rear. The roster of amenities includes a Bose high-end sound system, a remote 6-disc CD changer, dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows, power mirrors, and power door locks. An optional sunroof awaits your command to usher in the natural light, whether it’s the warmth of the sun or the serenity of moonlight.
Engine
Nestled in the rear of this extraordinary Porsche lies a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine, endowed with the X51 Power Kit and radiators borrowed from the 911 Turbo, resulting in a power increase to 341 horsepower. Power is channeled to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Officially, this translates to a zero-to-sixty sprint in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed reaching an impressive 180 mph, embodying the essence of Porsche’s performance prowess.
