Description
2023 was a bittersweet year for all petrolheads, regardless of whether you were a muscle car, JDM, or Euro fan. Dodge’s Challenger and Charger nameplates have become icons in the car world, regardless of what your tastes were, and in December 2023, the last ones rolled off the production line, marking the end of an era of untamed horsepower and a wild disregard for the laws of physics. On the upside, SRT made sure they finished in style, with a range of ludicrous models for 2023. One of these was the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, which could probably hit a quarter mile before you could finish reading out that name.
Exterior and Interior
Dodge’s design department was just as ludicrous as their engineering department, and as a result, Hellcats came with some incredible color options like Go Mango, Sublime, and the shade of purple that this car is finished in, which was aptly named Plum Crazy. The base model Challengers aren’t exactly small cars, but these Widebody models are even bigger, with those flared wheel arches (which give it a very imposing appearance). The Widebody suits these cars so much that the standard cars look like a toned-down version of the Widebody rather than the other way around. Of course, being a 2023, this car is part of Dodge’s Last Call series and has a plaque under the hood stating this. It also has a dual scoop air grabber hood. Being a performance-oriented vehicle, some may assume that it has a lot of weight saving and a very minimalist, lightweight interior, but they couldn’t be more wrong. This car has big, well-padded black Alcantara seats with contrast stitching that also extends to the dash and many conveniences and options, including a power sunroof. The seller states that this car has only 15 miles on it, and it still has its polyethene seat protectors and the famous yellow front lip guards. The Redeye will reportedly do 203mph flat-out, but the primary speedometer goes up to 220mph for good measure.
Engine
While the exterior of the 2023 SRT Demon 170 is striking, the true marvel lies beneath the hood. At the core of this beast is the first-ever 1,000-plus-horsepower production HEMI® engine, a 6.2L supercharged high output V8 that takes performance to unprecedented levels. This monstrous engine delivers up to 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque when running on E85 ethanol blend, propelling the Demon 170 from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds. In fact, the Demon 170 is so powerful that it is already banned in its stock form by the NHRA, thanks to its dominating quarter-mile time of 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph. Unlike other supercars relying on all-wheel drive systems, the Demon 170 achieves this blistering speed with rear-wheel drive, a testament to the engineering prowess behind it. Key to this remarkable performance are advanced technologies like line lock, launch control with launch assist, and a recalibrated powertrain control module that adjusts fueling and spark timing based on the ethanol content of the fuel. The improved 3.0L supercharger and newly upgraded driveline components further optimize power delivery, while the car’s TransBrake 2.0 system ensures you can harness all that power with confidence. Limited to just 3,300 units, the Demon 170 is already a legend in the making, with enthusiasts eager to get their hands on this limited-run powerhouse. Adding to the exclusivity, Dodge has offered a unique opportunity for 2018 SRT Demon owners to place a special request order for a matching VIN number with their new 2023 SRT Demon 170. This rare option ties the two generations together, making the ownership experience even more personal and ensuring these vehicles become true collector’s items. Whether you’re a returning Demon owner or a newcomer, this car is poised to be a dream for collectors, destined to dominate conversations for decades to come.
